Capital Region Medical Center is offering an eight (8) week student nurse
program for students entering their senior year in nursing school. At completion
of the program, you may reapply and be considered for other positions within Capital Region Medical Center.
GOALS
To provide an opportunity to increase nursing skills and knowledge through
clinical practice with a nurse preceptor.
To provide student nurses with a role model for the practice of professional
nursing.
To provide clinical experience helpful in making the transition from student
nurse to professional nurse.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be within one year of graduation from a school of professional
nursing.
Minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Enclose a copy of grades
or transcript.
Completion of a Capital Region Medical Center student nurse extern packet
by March 7, 2008. Contact human resources at 573-632-5043 or

Provide two instructor references, including one from your most recent
school of nursing clinical instructor, with your application.
Participate in a personal interview.
BCLS for healthcare providers is required.
PROGRAM
Student nurses will work in areas including:OB/Peds, Outpatient Services, PACU/Recovery Room, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Medical, Surgical, Progressive Care Unit, and
Multiservices Unit. There will also be eight (8) hour didactic learning
days.
Each student nurse will be with a preceptor. Student nurses will perform
nursing functions as outlined in the job description.
A mutually agreed upon schedule will be decided.
The program begins on June 2, 2008 and ends on July 25, 2008 being the last class.
