Leota Maag, RN, BSN, CDE
Leota is a graduate of Truman State University with a BS in Nursing. She has
been a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) since 1996 and has been active in diabetes
education and a member of American Association of Diabetes Educators since 1987.
Leota has worked in Columbia, MO, Tulsa, OK, and Joliet, IL before coming to
CRMC. Leota is a certified pump trainer and enjoys working with patients in
both group and individual settings.
Christie Vance, RN, BSN Christie is a graduate of the Ohio State University and moved here from the Columbus Ohio area. She has a background in hospice, oncology and emergency room nursing. She has also taught nursing at Lincoln University and worked as a nursing educator here at CRMC prior to coming to the diabetes center. She has type 1 diabetes and is a certified pump trainer.
Carol Smart
Carol joined the DMC team as Office Coordinator in June 2003. She attended Lincoln
University and has been employed with CRMC since 1981. Carol coordinates scheduling,
insurance vertification, billing and other functions for the Diabetes Management
Center.
Tamara Adams, RD
Tamara Adams is a licensed, registered dietitian with a Master of Science degree in Dietetics and Nutrition. A graduate of Graceland University with a degree in psychology, Adams continued her education at the University of Central Missouri where she received a bachelor degree in Dietetics and Nutrition and went on to receive a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas Medical center where she also completed her internship. Previously, Adams worked at Saint Lukes Hospital in Kansas City as a Clinical Registered Dietitian in Critical Care, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. “I am very excited to be at CRMC working in the Diabetes Management Center,” Adams comments, “I feel like I really make a difference in patients’ lives everyday, what a great feeling.”
