Teaching Program

Capital Region is an osteopathic teaching hospital. Medical students from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Health Sciences, Kansas City, Missouri can do their clinical rotations during their 3rd and 4th year at Capital Region. Rotations in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Family Practice are just a few of the requirements of their medical school training.

After graduation from medical school, their first year post-graduate training is an Internship. Capital Region has trained interns since 1952. They must complete one year of rotation requirements, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, etc., established by the American Osteopathic Association. Residency follows Internship. Capital Region has a Family Practice Residency Program consisting of two additional years of required rotations. Upon completion of the residency, the physician may begin his or her practice.

Capital Region is committed to educating future health care professionals. Email Debbie Rehagen for more information.
