2018 Light of Life Campaign

Life is a journey filled with milestones- birthdays and graduations, first dates and weddings, children and grandchildren. But as we travel down the pathway of life, we sometimes hit a bump in the road that forces an unexpected detour- cancer. Cancer touches everyone's life either by personal diagnosis or family member.

Goldschmidt Cancer Center

In 2008, the Goldschmidt Cancer Center opened its doors at Capital Region Medical Center, changing the face of cancer care here in our community. The Goldschmidt Cancer Center houses nearly all medical and treatment services needed by cancer patients. Radiation and chemotherapy treatments as well as MRI and CT scanning capabilities are available under the same roof resulting in the unique ability for cancer patients to receive coordinated care and treatment. The Goldschmidt Cancer Center also offers nutritional counseling, spiritual care and a family resource center to meet the total needs of cancer patients and their families. Emphasizing a team approach, Capital Region cancer physicians and other medical professionals work together to develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate schedules that will be most convenient for patients. Once treatments are completed, patients can continue their journey of recovery and work with certified professionals to improve their overall health at the Sam B. Cook Healthplex right next door.

Goldschmidt Cancer Center 10th Anniversary Events

During 2018, Capital Region is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Goldschmidt Cancer Center with several events.

  • June 25- The Capital Region Bill and Shirley Quigg Memorial Gold Tournament will be held at Jefferson City Country Club, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, and Redfield Golf Course. Proceeds from the Quigg Golf Tournament are designated for the Goldschmidt Cancer Center.
  • August 23- The 26th Annual Boost BBQ will be held at Jaycees Fairgrounds. This event raises funds for nutritional supplement and wigs that are provided free to cancer patients at the Patient Education Resource Center (PERC) at the Goldschmidt Cancer Center. The Boost BBQ is the only source of funding to provide this service free of charge to cancer patients in 19 mid-Missouri counties, no matter where they are receiving treatment.
  • November 10 & 11- Capital Region will host its first Festival of Trees at the Goldschmidt Cancer Center. This festive and fun-filled event will raise funds for the Goldschmidt Cancer Center and is sure to spark your holiday spirit. More details will be coming out about this special event!
