Each year, employees at Capital Region Medical Center nominate a physician that has gone above and beyond to make positive changes for the benefit of patients and their colleagues.
The results are in and the 2021 Physician of the Year award goes to Andrew Parker, D.O., Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Among the many praises given by the employees, the most common is the exceptional care Dr. Parker provides to his patients, every day.
Employees also shared “Dr. Parker displays professionalism in all interactions. He brings ideas forward and is passionate about safe, quality care for the patients. He is also compassionate with patients and their families” and “he recommends changes to benefit the patient and shows up for meetings to ensure the support for change is there. He has put in countless hours, emotions, and care into the past year and I cannot express how thankful I am that we have someone who cares as much as he does about our patients, organization and staff.”
Dr. Parker has played an integral role in the treatment of COVID-19 patients throughout the pandemic. “During the pandemic, when he had to be exhausted beyond measure, he was working on policies and procedures, making sure staff had the guidance needed to care for patients in light of the unknowns that were coming our way,” said one employee. Another employee said throughout the Covid-19 crisis, “Dr. Parker committed his time to the ICU and worked extensively with fellow staff to adapt care for our patients. He continues to be an essential resource for our most critical patients.”
Congratulations Dr. Parker and thank you for your outstanding service to Capital Region, your patients and the community!
