Obstetrics & Gynecology

Obstetrics

Have you heard? More moms than ever are choosing Capital Region Medical Center for their childbirth experience! Because our physicians, nurses and other medical professionals on the obstetrics team believe that each childbearing experience is unique, moms work closely with the team of caregivers to design a care plan that's right for them. The cornerstone of our obstetric care is education and family involvement, and these ideas are promoted throughout the process.

Homelike comfort

All patient rooms are beautifully decorated and provide privacy and homelike comfort in order to enhance the bonding process between parents and infants. For patients with uncomplicated pregnancies, the entire birthing process takes place in one room—the labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) room.

The obstetrics unit contains five LDRP rooms, six extended recovery rooms, a well-baby and level 2 nursery, and a C-section room located within the Family Maternity Center.

Telehealth Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Through our affiliation with MU Health Care, babies needing an extra level of care can been seen by a board certified neonatologist from MU Women's and Children's hospital through a telehealth platform. This technology allows us to quickly provide the right care, in the right place at the right time.

Timely access to a neonatologist allows the team to assess the situation and formulate a plan of care. The ability to care for critically ill infants without the need to transfer to a larger facility means care can be administered without the interruption of travel and families can be kept together. If the situation requires the transfer to a higher level of care, working directly with the specialists expedites the care and provides stabilization for travel.

CRMC and MU Health Care are Better. Together. for our littlest patients.
