Here, you can shop for different wigs in a variety of colors, textures and styles. Our selection includes more than 500 wigs and hairpieces for women and men. We also have a wide variety of crocheted and sewn hats, caps and scarves.

Where is the Boutique Located?
The Ellis Wig Boutique is located on the second floor of MU Health Care’s Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Room T2008.
I Receive Cancer Care at Goldschmidt Cancer Center. Can I Come to the Ellis Wig Boutique?
Yes, we welcome patients from the Goldschmidt Cancer Center in Jefferson City.
Do I Need an Appointment?
Yes, the boutique is open for appointments Monday through Thursday. You can schedule your appointment by phone at 573-882-6639 or email (masdx7@health.missouri.edu). Otherwise, you can request boutique services in your hospital room. A specialist will come to you with options for a wig or hat and can offer head shaving and styling services in your room.
We encourage you to visit the Ellis Wig Boutique before your first chemotherapy treatment or before you experience major hair loss. This allows us to match a wig to your natural hair, if that is your goal. You can also bring a friend or family member to help you shop for a wig and offer support.
What Happens During an Appointment at the Wig Boutique?
During your visit, we can help you find a wig that fits you and matches your preferences. We’ll also cut and style the wig based on your preferences so you can take it home with you. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, we can order a wig, which will usually arrive within a week.
You can also make another visit during or after your treatment if you need more head coverings or have questions. We’re here for you no matter what stage you’re at in your treatment journey.
What Types of Wigs Are Available?
We have an extensive selection of natural-looking wigs made from synthetic hair. Wigs are available in many colors, lengths, textures and styles to fit patients with all types of backgrounds. You can also have your wig cut and styled by our professional stylist during your visit.
Do You Provide Hairpieces and Head Coverings for Men?
Yes. We have hairpieces, hats and caps for men. We do our best to accommodate requests from all patients.
What Other Services Are Available?
If you would like us to shave your head, we can do this in our private salon or in your hospital room.
What Services Are Not Available?
We do not provide prosthetics, skin care or cosmetics.
Do I Need a Referral?
No referral is needed for the Ellis Wig Boutique.
What is the Cost for a Wig or Head Covering?
You may be eligible for a wig at no cost through our voucher program. Otherwise, we offer many wigs at low cost. If you have health insurance, we can provide itemized receipts for you to send to your insurance for reimbursement.
We also offer many caps, scarves and head coverings, handmade or donated by volunteers, which are available at no cost.
