What to Expect With Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab
Your rehabilitation plan is designed around your specific condition, recovery goals and daily life. Your rehab starts when you’re in the hospital recovering from your procedure, such as cardiothoracic surgery.
Your program will typically include:
- An initial evaluation where your rehab specialist reviews your medical history, medications and personal goals. This helps us create a rehabilitation plan tailored specifically to your needs.
- Medically supervised exercise designed to improve your endurance and strength. Our team closely monitors your heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and other vital signs to ensure your safety while you exercise.
- Education and lifestyle support to help you learn practical strategies to support your long-term health, including heart-healthy nutrition, breathing techniques, medication understanding and ways to manage symptoms and risk factors.
- Progress tracking to help us adjust your exercise plan as your strength and endurance improve. Our goal is to help you build confidence and develop healthy habits that last well beyond the program.
By the end of rehabilitation, many patients experience improved strength, better breathing, increased energy, and greater confidence returning to everyday activities.
